Robert Reynolds on CIA Redactions in the JFK Collection

This month, Robert has published several important articles on the remaining documents that contain redactions.

First, Robert has published the results of a Freedom of Information request about JFK records from NARA.

All of the documents are there for you to download. So, get reading.

Second, Robert has written an article on the redactions in the JFK records collection.

Recent news stories have claimed 3600 plus ARC records with redactions. The more unreliable sources still write about “secret documents”. The figure of 3600 is off by about 1000, and none of these documents are “secret.” They are redacted. There’s a big difference by any rational measurement.

Third, Robert has written about the CIA redactions as of February 2025.

Reynolds goes into detail on why documents were redacted.

Fourth, Robert has put on the web a complete list of CIA redacted documents.

The list includes record number, number of pages, doc date, number of redactions, and redaction category. The record numbers all have links to the document pdfs posted at NARA, so you can actually look up the docs and see for yourself what’s going on.
