Jefferson Morley is Wrong about Operation Northwoods, Again!

Updated: Mar 29

Jefferson Morley's latest Substack post about six assassination files caught my attention. There is an awful lot to unpack in Morley's article and it will require more than one blog post. So, here's the first.

Several paragraphs blacked out in the plans for the Pentagon’s notorious Operation Northwoods detail a “false flag” scheme, approved by the Joint Chiefs of Staff in May 1963. The Northwoods plan, implemented by “the most trusted covert personnel,” called for staging a spectacular violent attack on a U.S. target and arranging for the blame to fall on Cuba. Northwoods, says Reiner, was the “template” for the Dallas ambush which was immediately blamed by CIA assets on a Castro supporter.

I have already posted twice about Operation Northwoods, pointing out that it came out of Operation Mongoose. The Kennedy administration wanted and encouraged departments to think of ways to get rid of, and harass, Fidel Castro. Surprise, surprise, some people came up with some crazy ideas.

Operation Northwoods can only understood as being part of the Kennedys' war against Cuba and Operation Mongoose.

Morley responded to my article "The Truth about Operation Northwoods." Here is my reply.

So, there are no redactions in the Northwoods document.
